:: Volunteer Positions

Security

Security volunteers facilitate the safe enjoyment of the event for delegates, volunteers, staff, and guests. Security volunteers manage crowds, concert events, people, traffic to and from venues, and proper care of facilities during the YC weekend. The goal is to facilitate a Christ-like and safe atmosphere where God can touch and change the lives of young people and their leaders during the event.

Security volunteers are required to meet Friday afternoon for orientation, and finish Friday night in the South Club for debrief after the event has been cleared. Saturday and Sunday morning’s volunteers meet in the South Club before the event opens to receive direction for the day and again debrief in the South Club once the event has cleared. The total number of hours of service for the weekend is typically around 30 hours. While the responsibility placed on Security volunteers is high, they are a great group of people who recognize the value of a safe and fun environment to touch and change lives for the Kingdom of God.

Ushers

Ushers are required to attend orientation prior to the event. On Friday evening all Ushers meet together in the Volunteer Lounge located in the South Club of Rexall Place. At this time Ushers will meet Team Leaders and be given a brief overview of the expectations during the YC weekend. All Ushers will head to assigned sections at appointed times. Ushers posted in the general seating area will help direct people to their seats and monitor general safety and behavior of the delegates. Ushers posted at doors to the venue will check for wristbands. At the end of each session, all Ushers must do a seat check and pick up any items that are left behind and turn them into Lost and Found.

First Aid

All First Aid Volunteers require a minimum current certification of Level C (Health Care Provider) CPR and Standard First Aid. You will be asked to submit proof of certification prior to the event. First Aid volunteers help maintains a safe environment. Volunteers are expected to arrive on time and be ready to help. The First Aid team is first responsible for establishing the First Aid stations and ensuring they are stocked with adequate supplies for the day. The First Aid volunteers are put in teams of two and alternate between task locations. A minimum of two teams are required to be stationed at each of the active First Aid stations at all times. The remaining teams are roaming teams. Each team of two First Aid volunteers is responsible for the proper treatment and care of any person attending the event who may become injured or ill as a result of any cause.

Each First Aid volunteer is also responsible for documentation of all treatments provided at the time of the event as well as proper communication with team leaders. Volunteers are expected to be on time for the opening day. Teams that are assigned to the early shift for Saturday will be excused early on Friday night provided there are sufficient resources to cover the expected work load for the night. Volunteers who are expected to remain at YC until the end of the Friday evening will not be expected for the early shift on Saturday. This is also the case for Sunday.

Product Sales

Product Sales volunteers are required to fold YC shirts and set up tables at the designated sales locations. Product Sales volunteers are required to review price lists be familiar with the cost of each item available. Volunteers will be working at Rexall Place and Northlands Expo Centre. Product Sales volunteers sell YC merchandise as well as product for the guest bands and speakers. Some of the volunteers may be required to aid in set-up on Thursday evening and into Friday.

Games & Activities

The Games & Activities volunteers are responsible for operating an inflatable game throughout the weekend. The operation includes monitoring the activities of the participants as well as periodic checks to ensure the equipment is running safely. Games and Activities volunteers are also responsible for helping tear down on Sunday following the afternoon session.

Stage Hands

Stage Hand volunteers are responsible for helping bands with set-up, sound checks and stage needs during the concert(s). Stage Hands help move instruments and gear on and off the stage as well as make the transitions from one concert to the next as smooth as possible. Please note that Stage Hand volunteers may be asked to assist in event set-up during the day on the Thursday and Friday leading up to the event.
